Artist's Description

This windmill is part of the ranch and dairy farm in the middle of Highlands Ranch, the southern most community in the metropolitan area of Denver, Colorado. The windmill south of the historic mansion is the site of the primary well used for the ranching headquarters and mansion. The well is still in operation; however, the pump is now powered by electricity. The fan of the windmill was struck by lightning in the summer of 2016 and is undergoing repair. There were quite a number of wells drilled throughout Highlands Ranch so that water would be available for cattle in each pasture.
